Everyone......we meet in the blogosphere again. Please post your chapter plans & ideas as they develop. Also are your students most interested in Fiesta Texas (Six Flags), Sea World, Segway or Schlitterbahn Waterpark?
Bettendorf is leaning towards flying. No final plans at this point and we have not had a chance to visit about activities. I thinks some were thinking Segway tours though! Something different.
We are still debating on whether or not we want to fly or take the bus. The main advantage that we see with taking the bus is that we won't have to worry about transportation when we get there. B/c my kids want to pay more to fly but then I explained to them that we would also have to pay for transportation around San Antonio when we got there. So that would be an added expense. So I am waiting until the parent's meeting to make a decision on that one.
As far as activities my kids are most interested in Six Flags, Segways, and the Waterpark (in that order). Not much interest in Sea World.
Northeast is taking the charter bus. We have 6 people attending - 4 students, 1 chaperone, and myself. My students would like to attend Six Flags and do a Segway Tour. No one is interested in Sea World, but we'd probably tag along if that was the other option. I think a water park sounds good since it is Texas in the middle of the summer, but that's just me!
Western Dubuque is going to fly to San Antonio. Our students want to go to Six Flags. Because Six Flags has a waterpark they did not want to go to Schlitterbahn Waterpark. I am still waiting on if they would like to do the segway's.
Winterset is driving. My kids want to go to 6 Flags and Seaworld. So you can count us in the numbers. So that would be 7 kids and 1 adult. We have not talked about a waterpark. I will talk to them about it.
Right around the Alamo area on the Riverwalk there are several entertainment activities for students, such as a laser tag park we are checking into doing on Saturday or Sunday nights. Another place that is like an IMAX where students simulate snow boarding.
I am still working on the community service ideas.
Kyle - Did you see on the 6 flags website that if you order the tickets on line you can get the tickets for 39.99.....we would just have to print the off.
Sun: Finals/Workshops 7:15-5:30 Open Events-need to get information Segways 4-6-not all my student doing MOD Walk 5:30-6:30 LaserTag 7:30-9:00 or another chapt activity
Not sure will discuss with Lampe. At the Riverwalk there are lots of restaurants, but may have to just say Restaurant x between a time frame because not sure if restaurants will take large groups......Orlando they would not but the Pirate Dinner Adventure was a blast!
I haven't been able to find much in the way of dinner shows (but might not really be looking in the right places either), but I did find a couple of restaurants in the area that might be able to accommodate a large group. These might also be places the students would be interested in anyhow-Rainforest Cafe and Hard Rock Cafe?
All: I have posted a Iowa FBLA NLC Dinner Google Doc for us to fill out. If you will not be pariticipating then just mark "no", thanks. Need to have this completed by June 12th. Kyle
The Creston students plan on taking the charter bus and we would rather do Six Flags than the other two and they REALLY want to do Segway tours!
ReplyDeleteAlburnett is also planning on bus not sure about activities yet. Shannonthanks for reminding about Segways...

Are we going to be doing a Iowa Chapter dinner this year? I was just wondering? I know my kids enjoyed that last year.

ReplyDeleteWhat night or when do you suggest?
What about Sunday night after the March of Dimes Mini-Walk for a chapter dinner?
ReplyDeleteThat is a good idea....what are everyone's thoughts? I'm for it!
ReplyDeleteI would definitely be up for a State dinner!! If there is something that has a dinner show like the Pirates Dinner that would be perfect.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a great idea and Sunday sounds good for us!
ReplyDeleteLampe added it to the google document...make sure to revisit and sign-up!
